Racism today...

I'm a 40 something dad with several pre-teen children who do not have a racist bone in their body. Unlike me, they have never had their grandparents or parents utter the word "****", nor have they ever had their mother or I speak disparagingly towards any ethnicity or minority. We make it a point not to do so.
My point is, I know I'm not the only parent who does this. There are an entire generation of kids growing up that are coming into society without any preconceived notions about blacks, mexicans, asians, etc.
When these kids grow up and start watching the news and experiencing life in the real world where do you think they are going to see racism the most? In the white people they grew up around? or the blacks who get scholarships, jobs, instead of them bc of the color of their skin? or the minorities that constantly claim racism every time they don't get their way?
My point is that blacks have no room to accuse anyone of racism. There is no KKK, no segregation and the systematic institutional racism that blacks used to rail against is now clearly slanted in favor of the minority.
I do not believe the majority of blacks have any interest in eliminating racism, they seem to revel in it. I think it's easier for most of them to blame others for their own bad decisions.
Frankly I am sick of it. I am not sure black people in general are smart enough to get out of their own way and start making life better for themselves by graduating school, working hard, staying together as a family and holding their children accountable. I think most would rather try to look cool instead of doing the right thing.
Black people, your future is on you as an individual and as a family. Nobody is going to do it for you. This group-think woe-is-me-bullshite needs to change or you'll be right where you are 100 years from now. You live in the greatest country in the history of the world, get off your collective asses and make something of yourselves. And if you can't, it won't be because this generation, or the next, is holding you back. It's on you.
I'll get off my soap box now.

Post of the year, could not agree more.
I am so sick of the lazy entitlement attitude of large majority. Obama who claims to be so black even though he is half white could have really used his presidency to change black culture but instead he has fed into their entitlement and "oppression" and made it easier for them to hold their hands out

Wow.
First off, we're all racist. We may fool ourselves into thinking we're not, but every single one of us think differently about people in other skin color. It is simply human nature. No matter what you do or how you raise your kids, I promise you that they think differently about people who are a different color. But kudos for your efforts.
Secondly, I grew up around my father and uncles saying disparaging slogans about other people. My friends in the Midwest had no tolerence for my father and his language. They thought he was ignorant (he kind of is) and racist (he certainly is). However, on their first time to LA we stopped off at a Popeyes and they were floored by the service and attitude of the workers. It was at that moment that they understood what my father was speaking about in a cultural context.

Absolutely, positively wrong. And that is the problem in this discussion. Liberals assuming that everyone is racist because they are.

You're absolutely right. The assumption that everyone is racist is where libs want to begin the discussion and its wrong.

This is so true....and it's time we refuse to allow them to do this.

I think we all come out the womb without a racist bone in our body. But eventually we all notice things about people, or groups of people, through our own experiences. My point was what do you think kids like mine will consider racism when they get older?
I can tell you that these ignorant group-think black people that rally around the Trayvons and Mike Brown's of the world DO NOT help portray black people in a positive, rational or intelligent light. The Jesse Jacksons and Al Sharptons do nothing but promote racism for their personal gain while continuing to deny the ignorant black person the truth. Any black who dares utter the reality of truth is shouted down, called an Uncle Tom or shot dead and burned like the young black man from the Mike Brown case.

Exactly.
It is projection, plain and simple. I see the world this way, so you must as well.
Well, no, I don't. I value every human being regardless as to race or creed. Sorry that does not fit the Liberal narrative/agenda.

Well there ya go. They lack the intelligence to improve their situation. I think you nailed it.

That whole respond to the proper poster thing will help you out tremendously. Just saying.

I would quote a part of this but thats not necessary because this ENTIRE POST is racist.
You falsely make assumptions on the MAJORITY of black folks about their behavior and beliefs. This is the very meaning of Racism.
If you don't want those kids to hear the word **** don't take them to Tiger Stadium when a black QB throws a pick. I have never heard that word as much as I did at the last Kentucky game i attended in Tiger Stadium when JJ was QB.

I mean, you can't really judge a race by the people who work at Popeyes, but I reckon I understand what you are saying.

no, the meaning of racism is - I don't like you / won't hire you / won't let you live or go to school where I do; because you are different
too many people use the meaning of prejudiced to define what racism is
what you are railing against is stereotyping
it really helps if you understand the meaning of words...

it really helps if you know the meaning of words before you try to appear profound and knowledgeable but thanks for trying.
"the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races." wikipedia
You see that part about the belief that ALL MEMBERS of each race - thats the stereotyping part. Stereotyping based on race is racism.
if you don't have anything intelligent to add and just want to retort again please feel free.
