Unless we have a couple of back to back 5 win seasons, Miles will be here til he retires. People need to appreciate that. The grass isn't always greener. The times when we struggle will make the winning so much better. This team will be all right. We have great coaches.

Motherfricker it is NEON GREEN greener if we have ONE 5 win season with this talent!
My mom could win 5 games with this team.

....you really think Clifton Garrett, Kwon Alexander, etc came to LSU just because it is LSU....that is dumb.
Did you even read the first sentence of my post?

replacing miles' integrity as a coach would be difficult.
replacing miles' recruiting skills would be pretty tough.
replacing miles' coaching technique to a "better" style would be easy

Miles isn't going anywhere, so this thread is pointless.
He isn't forcefully going anywhere, but I have said it before, I have a sneaky suspicion that he retires after this season.

Sure....the fact that you think we could get Carroll or Harbaugh is only slightly less dumb than your thought that LSU recruits itself.
ETA Just saw you put Payton in that mix as well.... ....you are off the deep end bro.

This is a question that deserves an honest answer. You won't get many, so I'll try and offer one.
Truth is, there are probably a decent amount of coaches at various levels who could replace Miles. Likewise, there are probably guys that you would consider to be 100% slam dunk hires that for one reason or another would come in and fail.
Hiring coaches has always been a crap shoot. We fans understand that so long as it's not about our favorite team. We can recognize the failures of historically great programs who have made poor hires over the years. When these programs are mired in their shitty hires we laugh and point, but then for some reason when they right the ship and make a good hire we forget their down time and act as if they jumped from one great coach to the next with no hiccups. Need I list the horrendous hires at BAMA, TENN, Florida? Notre Dame? Michigan? Literally no program is immune.
Is it possible to replace Miles today with a coach that could come in and win bigger immediately? Absolutely! Is it possible to hire a guy that comes in and tanks the program...even worse than some here today think Miles has bottomed out? Absolutely!
Risk of hiring a dud ought not be the only factor you'd consider when replacing an established coach...but it ought to be part of the equation because history is a bitch and she tells us how often bad hires happen even under the best intentions. But if your mind is made up, then you take the risk and roll the dice AND THEN BE READY TO LIVE WITH THE CONSEQUENCES.
My fear is that for many years a large portion of LSU fans have had their minds made about about replacing Miles, but have not really come to terms with the very real possibility of having to live with the consequences of a bad hire.

Miles was 28-21 when he came here.
Plenty of those coaches in CFB.

Im not saying I want to get rid of Miles but at Oklahoma State he was:
28-21 (record)
1-2 (bowl games)
3-9 (ranked opponents)
everybody freaks about who we can replace him with when those records even landed him the job..

Yep, if Miles goes, the whole staff goes.
