It's the Louisiana inferiority complex. They need to obsess over a team to which they feel inferior in order to overcome the constant feeling of dread that's part of being a Louisiana sports fan. Part of it is jealousy.

LSU fans obsess over Bama.

Saints fans obsess over the Falcons.

The Pelicans don't have an identity. They have no one to compare themselves to. They should've been moved to Seattle but Stern was on his "no move" tangent and fixed the draft for them, an advantage they will surely squander away with poor roster moves (Gordon, Evans, Holiday, etc.). The New Orleans franchise is best remembered for that one year of success with Chris Paul, who, of course, eventually spurned the team for greener pastures. Removing the pre-2002 history, the team has accomplished nothing.

Pretty much all 12 of the Pelicans fans post here. Desperate for a rival after jumping on the bandwagon in 2008, they chose the Rockets because proximity and the teams were comparably ranked at the time.

Meanwhile, if you go to ClutchFans, you'll find that Rockets fans consider teams such as the Spurs, Lakers, Jazz, and Mavs as rivals because there's actually some history there (read: postseason). The Pelicans are probably the most irrelevant franchise in the NBA; I doubt anyone considered them a rival.

The Rockets fans here who care for the Pelicans one way or another simply do so because 1) they have a connection to Louisiana and 2) insufferable Pelitards desperately grasping for a rival. Within the context of this board, sure there's a rivalry--it's amusing. But not in real life.

My troll/alter alert is going off big time. You also sound very upset about a team you deem irrelevant.

I personally couldn't care less

I actually hated the spurs/lakers more back then

There's not a Saints fan that feels inferior to a Falcons fan. We have a Super Bowl, they have jack shite.

As far as Houston goes; I don't hate them. I think Dwight is a huge pussy, and Harden is the same way at times. They play in our division, which is the best division in sports, of course I want them to lose.
