I've had my Winchester M70 270 for a couple decades and it should outlast me.
If I had to replace it, I'd get the Savage 110 in either 270 or 308 with a Leupold VX2 in 3x9-40mm. That might be about $600 total if you shop right.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I'm just trying to do as much research and take my time with this.
