Again. St. George is still pushing the agenda. How do you explain that? And how do you reconcile it with the city grabbing revenue centers and leaving the residents behind?

A particular 70808 councilman certainly applied pressure. "If you do not apply for annexation you are against the city." Plain and simple, it would have been an all out PR war. Privately most of these entities (sans celtic centre) would have rather been a part of SG - lower taxes, less bureaucracy. None of them wanted to try the mayor's office and city council - it was the safe move, at least in the short term.

When SG becomes a city it will have the opportunity to compete against the very entities that requested annexation. When that happens, game over. The money is already in SG right now, but when the new schools come on board an exodus of the BR residents will leave for SG. SG will become the most diverse (70/30 60/40 for SG vs 10/90 for BR) and economically powerful city in the parish. Land value will skyrocket.

Yes these are the fears of the opponents of SG, and regardless of acquiring a 20 year old plus mall and a casino, nothing will stop the exodus once the new city comes online.

Best of luck to you!
