You need to get a duplicate title in Florida first. Then, you should be able to sell it. The buyer would then take that Florida title to the LA OMV and re-title the vehicle in LA.

I had a similar situation myself. My vehicle was registered/titled in LA, lost the title during the course of several moves/deployments, etc. I now live in AL. I had to get a duplicate title in LA,then I turned around and registered/re-titled the vehicle in AL. Sucks, since you're basically getting double tapped by fees, but unfortunately it must be done.

Better be prepared to drive to the closest DMV in FL tomorrow.

Can't do shite without a title.

And you should not get rid of the vehicle without the proper documentation.

Think liability and lawsuits.
