First of all, the biggest secondary danger from a burn is the risk of infection. The first being the burn of course. The skin is the organ that keeps shite on the outside from getting inside. You have gone and messed that up. So keeping it clean and dressed (protected from outside ooey gooey with clean/sterile bandages) is critical. That being said, you double screwed up by not only burning your hand (bad) but burning it at a joint (double bad). The concern being that scar tissue forms and restricts your range of motion. Not something you want at the junction of your opposable thumb. For this, I would go see a doctor who is a specialist in burn wound care and get his opinion. I am likely being conservative but this is the internet, I can't tell a ton from that picture and as I pointed out above better safe than sorry with the location. If this was on the middle of your forearm I might counsel differently.
BTW, did I say file a Workmans Comp report? Because you better. This could get expensive if they start talking skin graft.
