In my simple mind, i say... .270 is a little bit flatter, with the 30.06 having a little bit more energy transfer.
If i were planning on hunting pipelines where my shots would be 150-300 yards, i would probably go with .270. Whereas, if my shots maxed out at 200, the 30.06 is the ticket.
There are advantages to each, but they're so similar, you'll never know the difference, honestly.
270 WSM for the win. (watches for King Ranch WSM are stupid comments...)
