If its only for deer, i'd go with the .270. If you might want to hunter larger game with it in the future, then .30-06. Otherwise, there isn't much difference between them.

i was serious about heavy grain ammo... i wasnt sure, i shoot a 270 and 270wsm but dont own a 30-06 so i didnt know for sure. Never looked into them, sorry if i sound dumb
