Do you remember the "things would have been worse" justification for the Stimulus even though the result was still shite? That's the type of argument that gets countered now.

By letting it take effect, everyone gets to see the steaming pile of shite it truly is so the likelihood that anyone tries to push it again lessens. Defeat it before it's implemented and the proponents just try again.

Yes, and when I hear it, I always counter it with: if it weren't for W's policies, the NASDAQ (which declined by 50% during Clinton's last year in office) would have crashed to zero.
