What do people say if they served, but never deployed?
I have always thought of 'veterans' as combat veterans, but since 9/11 it seems like anyone who has ever served in any manner whatsoever receives the utmost respect and esteem.

I know someone who is just in reserves(AF I think, if he's still part of it) and has never spent a day outside of the country in a military capacity. I laughed when I saw someone tell him thank you today.
