These last four losses to them have shown us they know how to dominate us, and they also know how to win in the clutch against us. THAT is not an accident. We should've won last night AND we should've won the game in 2012. Both times the gameplan.........regardless of the criticism........was sound enough to win. Yet, we are unable to seal the deal and they put together key drives in the last minute that are the difference in the game. Two years ago I attributed it to having AJ McCarron as their QB. But after watching Sims do the EXACT SAME THING.....after having had a horrible game to that point.......lets me know this is no longer a coincidence.
Meh, Beckwith provided a golden opportunity to the offense with the ball on the 6, then the O promptly squandered it with the penalty, which was plain stupidity, and then settling yet again for a FG in a big game. LSU's offense is not scaring anyone via the pass and making it very difficult to put up 6's. Compound that with the terrible kickoff and they let Bama back in and a senior maximized his opps and LSU's D played to soft the final drive and weren't ready for OT calls. Meanwhile LSU blows a chance at a good gain on 1st and the game was done. 2012 was on Miles and some of the things he tried to pull out of his behind when he didn't need to and the D allowing Yeldon to slip free.
I can't help the current QB weakness, but the offense was obviously much more dynamic with an experienced drop back QB who was immobile. LSU needs a good QB who starts for 3-4 seasons, that would help immensely vs the QB carousel that has been in-play the past few seasons. There is always hope, luck definitely plays a part as well.
What if Beckwith didn't recover the fumble and Bama drove the field for a TD and won? What would the bitching be about then? Weren't only 5 penalties called combined for both teams during regulation? 3-29 for Bama, 2-20 for LSU, refs let the guys play for the most part, abstaining from ticky tack penalities which was a little refreshing.
