quote:I'm with you. Fans bitched for years about the OC, play calling, etc. To his credit, Miles has tried to make changes and adapt.
It really makes no sense. I don't understand it.
But the one constant has been the consistent lack of skill and execution at the QB position.
It's a head-scratcher.

Really??
Our red zone offense consists of running plays up the middle followed by desperation lobs to Malachi Dupre. Where are the changes when we used to do the same stuff with Terrence Toliver?

This is the issue, Miles likes a certain type of QB (ala JJ), he wants them to run some and pass. However, with our offense, he has not found that type of QB. HS and College have changed the landscape on him and the QB he wants are hard to find.
HS is moving to the spread option; it is a passing version of the option run. The QB doesn't need to know alot of plays and can run. There is a reason they are tough to find in the NFL. The other thing is there are limits on an athlete in College, they have school and football. They do not get them 24/7 like the pros. We really need to reassess what we want in a QB and what we are asking them to do.
With that being said. The NFL and College is a dink/dunk league. If a QB can't throw short to intermediate routes, he shouldn't be playing. We are trying to be the Oakland Raiders throwing the long ball. It is disappointing that we cannot find a guy from LA who can complete a pass. Somebody is doing it.
The common denominator here is Miles. He is essentially Al Davis without the prickly disposition. We need to quit focussing on athleticism and start focusing on intelligence. We need a QB who can transition to several different offenses if we are going to stay with our current scheme. There also has to be a "want" to throw it down the middle. We are losing because we are easy to decipher and our coach likes it that way and opposing coaches do as well. How many players have come out and stated they new what LSU was going to do. We were excited with Ole Miss because we completed passes that we never do.
Think about this; it took them two weeks to come up with that crap last night.

I have said this for a LONG time. Glad the admin will now step up and criticize CLM for this giant weakness. Hope that Harris get a legit shot to play. It should start with the next game. If he is not ready, then shame on the STAFF.
