Does anybody here remember when this areas was a predominantly white, blue-collar, neighborhood? It really wasn't that long ago.

Not personally, but my Mom tells me about it all the time. Used to be a blue collar plant worker area.

My old man grew up on Evangeline St in the 50s/60s. Said it was pretty decent back then.

I grew up in that neighborhood. Left there in the 70's.

I lived on Charles Street, several blocks North of Istrouma High, until age 6. Moved to Southeast BR in 1953.
