I think they recently extended BRAVE to 70802 as well, so they might experience a similar murder reduction as 70805.

If true, I wish they had done this before Shelby Holmes was murdered in October 2013.

Not armed robbery by thugs just outside the gates.

I was held up on campus at gunpoint about 30 years ago near where the East Campus apartments are. I wasn't the only one that semester and subsequent ones when I was in school.

It's not just an off campus problem and it's not a new problem.

I would occasionally give my friend from work a ride home. He lived in this area.

I lived on Evangeline St. in 70805 from 1984 until 1997. I watched neighborhood turn to 'hood. It went from a place you could play till the street lights came on to gunshots at night and prostitutes turning tricks.

1997? You hung on a lot longer than most...

My family, plus 3 sets of aunts/uncles/cousins all lived in the 70805 in the late 70's/early 80's. I lived just off Plank Road within walking distance of Tony's Seafood. The other 3 families all lived within walking distance of Howell Park in the Elm Drive/Linden Street area. It is so hard to fathom now, 30 years later. We all had moved by about 1984 to various other parts of town. Glad we got out when we did.

I would go with my mom and she would leave me in the car with her .22

It's a joy to walk across Scenic to get to my office in the dark at 5:30am.
I also have to ride through all the land Exxon bought up to check for dumping. No bodies in the past five years, so, it's obviously not as bad as the BBC reports, lol.

I had an Insurance Debit route in the Lower 9th ward in NOLA, including the Desire Projects. No neighborhood in BR is frightening.

Aka white flight. Assholes can't stomach living near brown people and take off for the nearest suburb in town that's 30 miles away. Then people wonder why traffic is so horrendous going into town in the morning, and out of town in the evening.

At the 1:19 mark: Get you a job.

3:48 mark: There it is. Racism, White man's fault

4:03 mark: You know when you get to that part, why? Who is to blame?
