when I have friends in town from out of state, I have never had one tell me anything negative about Sammys or Chimes or even Parrains
Well Parrains is the best out of those three IMO, so I'm saddened by your need to say "even Parrains",
But yeah, Parrains is great seafood and close enough to campus for OP if that's what he's coming in for.
I actually never go to Sammy's as I think their fried food all tastes the same, but I'm surprised to see so many people saying not to go. I imagine an out of towner would be perfectly happy at Sammy's. I certainly have no problem ordering it to-go in a pinch. (It's very close to home)
Chimes is another option.
Friday night, you're going to wait at any of the three. Saturday lunch you'll be okay at Parrains and Sammys. I assume you're not doing Saturday night.
Sunday morning at all 3 will have a wait.

Chimes on campus for food/atmosphere and a great beer list.
Roberto's out in St. Gabriel around the University Club is great. Went there Saturday and it was delicious.
Beausoleil is very good.
Parrain's is also very good. Owned by the same people that own chimes. Food is a bit better but beer variety isn't as good. Menu is pretty close to being the same.
But if it's just you and 2 dudes and y'all want some atmosphere. Go to the chimes on campus. Unbeatable campus atmosphere and one of the better beer lists in town.
