Right. They squeak by Navy and they are good. I see your point.
Would a loss to Ole Miss or a squeaker against a shitty Arkansas team make them better?

Question - why is Michigan State ranked #8?
Wins:
Jacksonville State
Eastern Michigan
Wyoming
Purdue
Indiana
Nebraska
Michigan
20 point loss to Oregon

Thats the only team I take issue with being above ND.. Everyone else is fairly above

I think they have to be removed to make the 8 team playoff work. Plus, if the conference game is worth it they will meet up in the playoff.
I would prefer an uneven number of teams like 6 or 10. That way there's a reward for the best teams (a bye week).
I wouldn't go any higher than 12. If you're 13th, you might be able to argue that you're one of the op 12 but you have no credible argument that you're the best.

Then do what the FCS does take 24
Top 8 get a bye it gives wild cards and all FBS teams a chance. Plus it gives credence to the top 25 poll the committee releases.

Low numbers like that only give Top 2 or 4 teams with byes. Too much argument can be made. Can see the plus of a reward game.

Long post season that would probably force home games to be given up. Hard sell there for the majority of teams that will never make the playoff.

If they go to 24 CCG are over and I think you'd get new conferences forming to attempt to minimize losses.

12 might work the best.
- All conference champions get in if they're ranked. (Which will rarely if ever happen with the MAC and Sunbelt champions, and at least one other mid major will fall short each year.) At larges fill out the field.
- Top four teams get a bye and a second round home game.
- Next four teams get a first round home game.

They have a win against a top 15 team. ND has no ranked wins.

I think they all should get in. They deserve a chance.
But I know that's not popular.
Again I think we are finding a NC not the best team. To me that is the issue, as that's never been clearly defined.

Stanford and Nebraska are a wash. Flip schedules and the teams have different records.
In fact according to Dons best Vegas ratings. Stanford would be favored to win the game

They aren't a wash when one is ranked in the top 15 and the other keeps losing while unranked. ND has no quality wins yet, Sparty has 1. That's the way the committee sees it regardless of what a speculative Vegas line says.

Indeed. Just pointing out flaws in the committee logic.
Teams are supposed to rewarded for stiff competition, but Nebraska is getting rewarded for playing pancakes.
As such moving fwd it makes zero sense to schedule hard games. Just ask Mich State, I'm sure in hindsight they'd rather have played Toledo instead of Oregon

So you just want Vegas to rank the teams then? Your playoff would be Alabama, Florida State, Baylor, and Michigan St. Sorry Miss St. Great season, but nobody really cares about winning games.
This is probably a lame bump, but I didn't see the 2 posts to mine.
I actually would like to see some type of Vegas line factor into the rankings. Please don't read that first sentence and go nuts, I know how crazy it seems and the problems it could cause. But under the right circumstances and monitoring and transparency, I think Vegas lines could be very beneficial and better than most methods of ranking teams.
If I had to put my life on the line in a seasons long contest(Vegas vs talking heads or committee members) of who could rank teams or pick winners better, I'd side with Vegas. Wouldn't there be far less room for bias?
And there are plenty avenues present to separate good teams vs deserving teams. I assume Alabama 2010 would still be favored against most teams in the country. They didn't deserve shite though because of their 3 losses and that could easily be accounted for.

I think we have good shot to beat Notre Dame in a couple of weeks

if you want to play that game. They have 1 loss. They could actually be ranked higher and prob will once the SEC takes care of itself
Not after they lose to the favored Sun Devils this weekend!

If nD was called "northwest Indiana st" they would not even be ranked.
If I was 7'2 I might have made the NBA.

Navy is a cupcake.... And IF ND beats Zona St. I will give this a better thought... However if MSU beats OSU, then MSU>>>>>>>..ND. No matter what ND does the rest of the year.

Yeah, I'll look ND differently if they can look good against Arizona St. And I kick myself for ignoring the BIG. I don't have any feel for how good OSU or Mich St are. Is it wrong for me to sorta favor ND over teams with better resumes because I think Golson could potentially be an X factor in games, even though they might not deserve it?
