Not at all. Not sure if it holds true down there, but up here firefighters and police can retire with full benefits and pension at 20 years, so a 40 year old can retire and go get another job and basically double his income.

That needs to be stopped, as it's causing our cities and state to go broke with pension obligations. They should at least be required to work 30 years before those benefits kick in.

My department requires 30 years to retire. Every department around me is between 25-30 years with a 21 y/o age requirement to be hired. Most people stay on a few years longer than the minimum retirement. And I completely agree, 20 years is way too short
