Leffe
Chimay
Rochefort
Maredsous
Wilderen
If I could get one beer at each one, what should it be?
UPDATE:
Just got back. Did Leffe brewery since it is in a pretty town. Did a couple of small non-exporting craft breweries, and a couple of the above mentioned trappists...
However, we did end up at Cantillon yesterday morning, and it was awesome. Drank a new lambic, a few aged lambics, a kriek, gueuze, and an Iris.
Best tour I've been on!

No Cantillon, no care.
Honestly, I don't know of anything special you would be able to get at those breweries that can't be found on shelves.
Do you not normally drink Belgian beer and want advice on particular styles to favor? For instance, all of Chimay's stuff is pretty much equally regarded, it comes down to style preference.

Drie Fonteinen in Beersel is always a great stop. Great beers and restaurant.
Oud Beersel is within walking distance also.

Cantillon is in Brussels. I've been there a few times. I wanted to hit the outskirts this weekend.
I know some are big well known names, but the scenery is nice so why not.
I guess I was looking for recommendations on some specific beers from each brewery that are less common. I love Belgians, and wanted an excuse to drive around southern belgium and drink.

Yea, I'm jealous regardless. I love to visit more breweries in Belgium. I'd try to hit up places like Fantome, Westvleteren, and St. Bernardus.
I'm sure you won't have a hard time having fun at those places.

I would email Dany before going there. He only speaks French and when I went he had his niece there to translate. Very nice stop if he's in the village.
Orval is a nice visit if you're going all the way to southern Belgium. Nice tour, very historic, and you should be able to pick up some beers and glasses for a very reasonable price.

Chimay didn't do brewery tours when I went some years back. Leffe is a massive industrial brewery so nothing special.
Many of the breweries aren't as open to the public as ours are in the US, so make sure you have a plan before just driving by

I'm cool with leffe. It is on the way, and the restaurant is supposed to be good, so I dont mind the whole inbev thing. I also know that nearly all of the abbeys dont do tours, but my brother is flying over to visit me. So, this is more of a brotherly beer weekend with Belgian beers as the pretense. I may do northern Belgium in the spring. Still looking forward to trying new ones!
