A new poll conducted this month found Republicans Tom Cotton and Asa Hutchinson have double-digit leads over their Democratic opponents in their races for U.S. Senate and governor.
The annual Arkansas Poll, released Thursday by the University of Arkansas, was conducted between Oct. 21 and Monday through live telephone interviews with 747 Arkansans, according to a news release. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.6 percent.
The poll found Cotton leads Democratic incumbent Sen. Mark Pryor 49 percent to 36 percent among very likely voters and 57 percent to 36 percent among men. Women were evenly split at 42 percent for each candidate. The 15-point difference between male and female support for the leading candidate was the widest gap in the 10 years the poll has been calculating it, the release said.
In the race for governor, very likely voters favored Hutchinson over Democrat Mike Ross 50 percent to 39 percent.

Arkansas gave us the Clintons. Let it burn.

We gave you Bill. Hillary is not an Arkansan. Chicago is her home just like Obama.

Obama is from Kenya, not Chicago.

Do you and yours really want to take the long way around to get to Branson?

The Arkansas Republican Party used to be so small the joke was they held their state wide convention in a corner booth at Denny's. As the Democrats drove more Blue Dogs out of the party the state voted more and more Republican.
And you can't nuke us. If Walmart closes down half the jobs in your state are gone.

I predict this will happen with a vengeance.
Cotton is far right, which is unusual for a state like Arkansas. We tend to get centrists across the board. The current Democrat governor is extremely popular, but term-limited. His endorsement won't be enough to keep the GOP from taking the governor's mansion, either.
Hutchinson, the GOP governor candidate, has been a long time failure at state politics for the most part. Him winning demonstrates a sharp right turn for Arkansas. Cotton winning does, too. People are sick of Democrats.

People who run the modern Democratic party have next to nothing in common with most flyover state voters. The party's power has shifted to the coasts and further away from the south.
