I know for sure I wouldn't be who I am without my own personal struggles. Don't know if that is a good thing or bad thing, but it is what it is.... Growing up I never wanted for anything. Somehow my older and younger brothers, both engineers turned out "better" than me by most metrics. Thing is I can live happy without comfort of money probably much easier than both. I've chased money before and it afforded me to do more but not neccessarily make me happy.
