Most people that deal with the cops on a regular basis are going to be in lower income crime ridden areas. So this is probably fairly standard in most cops scenes.
Cops is 100pct authentic. It is the only actual "reality tv" show that has ever existed.

Cops is not fake.
Fun fact: in order to appear on the show and not be a cop, you have to either be shirtless or wearing a Looney Tunes shirt.

Yeah, I work with a guy who lives pretty close to where that happened. IIRC, it happened at a fast food joint in Omaha.
