I don't know how many people watch WWL at 7 pm on a Monday night?

Against Monday Night Football...I'd put the number at not enough to matter which could be one reason to not go, along with the fact that he's in another debate with them anyhow. Then there is the fact that he gives them 2 the chance to go at it and he gets to analyze this debate and go into the next one with ammunition. Seems like a winning situation whenever he's polling so well and playing for the primary since he'll get Maness's votes anyhow.

This issue is relevant to two types:
Dem backers
Truly ignorant voters

The former tries to make a big deal about his absence for obvious reasons. The latter genuinely isn't informed or just doesn't get it. Laundrieu HAS to show, she's the longtime incumbent who's polling isn't great (to say the least). Maness also HAS to show, who knows what his goal is but he needs all the exposure he can get. The people that pump up either for showing up are pretty ignorant...they didn't really have a choice.
