missed FG to win the game
Why were both teams ineligible for a conference championship?

GOAT mid-field logo.
Yep. It's iconic and unique to LSU.

I was undergrad from '84-'88 and I distinctly remember it being there on more than one occasion... not sure about '84, but from '85 on I remember it being there... not sure when it was scrapped... I'm glad it's back and hope it never goes away.

The eye was definitely there during the Arnsparger years.

The silhouette of the State was on the field while they were filming Everybody's All-American.

There's a lot of wrong info in this thread. It started in the early 1980s, shortly after the song by Survivor and continued for the remainder of Arnsparger's tenure. Archer stopped using it (it wasn't a years-long tradition at the time). Hallman brought it back. DiNardo stopped using it (he thought that LSU should use mid-field to advertise the school's name and replaced it with a bland-looking white "L-S-U"). Saban brought it back. Miles is the first coach to keep it for two consecutive coaches.
