Someone took a permanent marker to a carp.

I believe that the guys who weighed this fish are in 1st place with 18.88 lbs.

Well if I could cut a half inch off my reds tails; I'd have 19lbs every tourny

I am totally ignorant to the situation, why is the messed up tail looked down upon?

It is often implied that a messed up tail could be associated with cheating. meaning that someone could trim a tail to make the fish measure inside the state slot limit.
In regard to this photo, i do not believe that this tail was cut by an angler trying to get it to measure. It's way too messed up for that. However it could easily be argued that this fish could have been caged up & that is what happened to the tail.
I am not accusing anyone of cheating. The point is that the rule is in place to keep folks from cheating & by allowing this fish to be weighed, you open the door for a person to cheat & get away with it.

Pretty messed up. I'm willing to bet good money that i know where a lot of the top of the leaderboard caught their fish

Kudos to the boat with 2- 9+ fish. Thafs quite impressive and they must be pissed that they did that and are losing to someone with what should be an illegal fish.

Would have been fishing it, but my partner could not get off of work and IFA does not allow you to fish with and alternate for the C-ship or alone for any tourney. Since I already had the time off went drink a few beers and watch the madness.
Some studs were brought it!

They were the 2nd boat to weight-in too. Got to watch it all go down.

it was a rat race down to cocodrie this morning. I guess some nice fish are coming from down here. Probably had 20 boats come flying by us.

Looks like they've gone back and DQ'd the fish.
Combine that mess up with the fact the tourney director says at the captains meeting you can't fish the Harry Bourge property in this tourney and you have succeed in pissing off a lot of tournament guys in a 24 hour period.

I agree with the fact they shouldn't be able to fish the bourg property. It requires a permit and the rules specifically state that no one is allowed to fish restricted waters. At least from what I remember when I was looking at it a couple of months back.

I don't disagree with you OhFace AT ALL. But there is a large segment of anglers that felt it was open to the public becasue ANYONE can get a pass to fish it. Some, myself included, choose not to, and fish other areas.
There are other tournament trails out there that allow you to do this, as long as the general public can also get said pass. Not saying I agree with it...

You would definitely have a better grasp on this subject than me. I have been looking at joining a tour and may do so next year, but I definitely don't have a pulse on what the general consensus is.

Give me your email address. I can give you some advice on getting into redfish tourneys, things to do in the "off season".
