Boudin Cookoff this weekend in Lafayette

I try to go each year, but with a 3 week old baby in the house, the trip to Laffy + a crowded environment may not be in the cards. It's been well worth the trip each year though. Much better than a wine tasting. Where else can you try 20+ top boudins side by side?

How does it work? Do you pay one price and get to try whatever you want or do you pay per portion? The poster says its free but i figure thats just to get in

You buy tickets. It's usually x amount of tickets for a sample or link.

Last year, you paid the fee and got something like 5 tickets. It cost you 1 ticket per sample at the booths.
You could go back and buy more tickets as needed.

Nah... I went last year and was disappointed.. None of the big names from Lafayette area were there.

Yeah, free to enter and walk around. You buy tickets and exchange 1 ticket for a sample link. For each bank of tickets you buy, you also get a ballot. There are cheaper ways of eating boudin, but not cheaper ways of sampling so many. I think my wife and I have dropped a little north of $20 for lots of samples and a few bottles of water.
if I remember, some places will sell things like boudin balls for 2 tickets..etc. Mostly 1 ticket = 1 4" sample link.

It was something like that. Cheap easy way to sample a lot of the different kinds.

I was only a little disappointed that the bigger names weren't there, but that made me try more of the others. Not a bad thing. Tried T-Boys for the first time, and realized why it's the best.
I'll be at the Wild Game cook-off benefitting the Boys and Girls Clubs, down in Lydia. If you are looking for something different, come join us.

Many of the booths were giving free samples of other products they have.
Its really a great deal, but they need to do it on an LSU open date weekend.

The one towards the rear with the sunglasses.
I kid I kid. I missed the eating contest last year. I just lifted the pic their FB page.

It's a great event--cheap, and after four or five samples, you start to fill up. I like that lots of smaller producers are there--not the same old ones everyone already knows about. Love seeing the little guys doing their thing and getting some attention for it. Also love to see multiple examples of red boudin side by side.

They need to move it up a few weeks before hunting season starts

They also need to move to a larger venue. It gets extremely crowded in that park. Worth the trouble though.
