Because I don't agree with your assignment of options to one side or the other because my argument is simply that if you are looking for information in its purest form the "moderate" channels are not assignable to a "side" given their relative distance from the extremes.

Basically our disagreement comes down to your perception that the big 3 channels would be 75% left on the political specture of 0-100. I would put them, as stated, 45-55......or, if you prefer, 40-55%. Given that view, in the big picture I dont see them as attributable to either side in a significant way.

ETA: This would mean that your argument, while true as far as distribution given political leaning, would NOT account for the rather sizeable gap between lib and con media consumption in the PEW poll.
