The defeatist feedback loop of modern black culture prevents outside inputs of rationality. If a viewpoint is "white," the proponent is rejected no matter their pdevious credentials. And the people who are respected enough to make a difference won't go against the prevailing cultural norm of urban "blackness." Too much to lose. Cornel West isn't going to come out and say, "Well, it looks like we were a little hasty here. This shooting actually looks legitimate."
To be fair, this isn't just a "black thing." It's a tribal thing. We all do this. Mississippi State fans did it a few weeks ago with Dillon whatever his name is. Even if you know your opponents are right, you can't admit it. Protect the tribe.

It will be interesting to see the reaction to this from people like Al Sharpton and other commentators/news people (Don Lemon, I'm looking at you) who jumped on the bandwagon way too early.

Maybe those outside agitators and union thugs will riot because no one takes them seriously anymore.

Did people REALLY believe Ferguson was a situation where a policeman shot a black man in cold blood? Seems to me that that false scenario started falling apart pretty quickly. The autopsy changed the dynamic pretty quickly.
But, maybe my other point was misunderstood. In a country of 330 million people, it's inevitable that we are going to have a white person kill a black person in a situation where there is no doubt that the black person is an innocent victim.
There seems to be a zero tolerance for unprovoked white-on-black violence. So, what happens when the race-baiters really do have the facts on their side....IN ONE SITUATION IN A COUNTRY OF 330 MILLION PEOPLE.
It's inevitable that these people, sooner or later, are going to get a case where the facts are on their side.

The Crawford guy who got shot in the WalMart in Ohio seems a pretty reasonable case of an innocent victim. For the life of me, I can't understand why the race baiters are so shitty at picking their battles.

I don't see anything is this story that we didn't already know. Even Brown's friend Dorian Johnson said that something happened in the car, but the discrepency is over what happened in the car. When we can replace the words "may have been reaching" with "definitely was reaching", then we'll have something to go on.

I am going to have to wait until all of the evidence is presented together. Witness statements and everything.
That's my position too, but some folks on both sides refuse to let the facts and evidence get in the way of their narrative.

Good point.

White-on-black violence is statistically zero in the United States. When you consider how heavily any such incident is covered, it is mind boggling.
I guess it is making up for the time when it wasn't even considered crime, but I can't see that as justification. It takes attention from real problems that might have a real solution.
And it is purely for political posturing.

That cop got fired and charged.

The facts ARE coming out, trackfan.
The problem is, it isn't what you wanted to hear.

Well - I started from the bare fact:
Officer shoots unarmed subject to death.
Now, not rushing to judgment, that's all we knew. When that was all we knew, I was in the, "Lucy, you got some splainin' to do" camp.
Then the story unfolded in the context of the riots. Within a day or so, I knew this was going to be a legal $hitstorm and that the mob would never rationally evaluate the evidence.
Just as they didn't in Trayvon/Zimmerman...
Now - Wilson still has to get past the fact that there was some disengagement after the initial struggle in the car, but as his story checks out and the other eyewitness accounts do not - the case against him looks to be done.
The riots will have to be managed - that's just a fact. When the GJ returns a 'no true bill' - heck, it could spread to St. Louis proper.
And it is sadly unavoidable. The die is cast.

No, he wasn't fired and no, he wasn't charged.

This is what I ask anyone who thinks the cop over-reacted.
A 300 pound man (who just attacked you in your car - and who just strong-arm robbed a convenience store) rushes you after you've said "stop". What are you going to do?
frick you. I'm firing until the clip is empty. And I'd do the same even if I wasn't initially attacked in the car. If you charge a police officer....that's the end of the conversation IMO.

VB, how sad that you are incapable of discussing context and substance.
If you dont think people like Holder, Sharpton, Don Lemon, etc have race-baited the Ferguson, MO situation, then you are a fool.
You "debate" like you have the IQ of a 5 year-old.
