Don't even say anything about traffic. What stadium have you gone to and left after the game that did not have traffic?

In 'the old days', the only way to watch the game was to go to the game - TV games were rare, and full game replays online, DVRs, etc, did not exist. They also did only a cursory check for alcohol entering the stadium. Both of those things have changed, and while the traffic was bad then, it's only gotten worse.

LSU football on Sat night was always a social event for many - that is not new, and those people, including students, will leave for the next party scene when they feel like it, regardless of who we play or how close the score is.

So don't expect the social watchers to change. They could be looser with the alcohol checks, which might help some.

Other than that, it's a tradeoff - we get more TV coverage and more revenue for our team/school, and we have fewer people who actually go to the games or stay there because they have more choices for when and how and where to watch the game than ever before. So, some will now choose not to attend or leave early regardless of who we play and how exciting our team is and what our record is, when they didn't have that option in the past.

I do think they should consider something like the standing room only tickets for baseball - as people leave or don't show, others can come in for something like $10 per ticket and take the good empty seats.
