Can both sides at least agree that this St. George fiasco has been one giant distraction from the embarrassingly dysfunctional EBR school system? I mean it really is terrible.

True and it's the reason I'd like to have a vote sooner rather than later.

I hope like heck Baton Rouge doesn't use legal delaying tactics on the vote, short of evidence appearing that absolute fraud has taken place to obtain the signatures.

I've read more than once, for example, where the EBR school board has debated spending some significant money on what might become a SG school and having to justify spending it with the specter of that school being carved out of the EBR system.

I don't agree with that philosophy but it's only human nature for some people to think that way.

No shite. Imagine if they had spent half the effort they spent gathering signatures trying to actually get reformers elected to the school board? EBR schools suck fricking arse - it shouldn't be that hard for a motivated and funded group who wants reform to get people elected. BUt of course - many if not most of the folks spearheading the St George "movement" have their kids in private school and don't actually give a frick if EBR schools succeed or not!
