I can hear the radio call now.

"We have a report of an overdue library book on the NW corner of the Parade Ground. All units please respond. Proceed with caution. Fraternity pledge seen in area. Considered flight risk. Proceed with caution. Over."

We used to say

State police were federal rejects
BRPD were state police rejects
EBR deputies were BRPD rejects
LSU police were EBR SO rejects

I've thought of it that way, although a lot of Troopers move on to the FBI, so I don't agree with the first part.

I had a friend that went from Deputy Sheriff to LSUPD to LAST.

State Troopers don't have rookie classes every year; probably every 3 years. He had to do something. I guess it may have helped him on his ST application.

Probably because they are cowards who don't want to have to do real policing in areas like North BR.

Like the departments of gas station attendants and taxi drivers?

They're basically mall cops with lower pay then the other LE agencies.

Not necessarily, and they're POST certified and have the powers of arrest just like any other PD. They get paid a lot more than many of the local municipalities and sheriffs' offices. Some join them to get LE experience so they can continue their careers at other agencies, and some have retired from the military or other LE agencies and choose to continue to work in their chosen profession.

Not even that often. We haven't had a class for six or seven years (maybe enven longer) until the most recent class that just graduated.

For LSUPD and other campus cops, go the the Louisiana Department of Civil Service website.

That just sounds stupid. A lot of people like to comment on Police Officers and they usually don't have a clue what they are talking about.

I turned down a job one time at LSP because it was a pay cut from my job as a City Police officer. I have a ton of respect for LSP though, but money talked in this situation.

maybe they are using it as a stepping stone to state police, or something similar
