He should stay. Nobody else can come close to offering him what ESPN can.

I'd argue it's the other way around with Simmons. He's one of the very few people could leave ESPN and still be relevant. He conceived of and created the only two creative, original things ESPN has done in the last two decades with Grantland and 30 For 30, and he practically pioneered the sports podcast medium. He has fantastic connections in show business and talented writers want to work with him.

If I'm Fox, I'm giving him a blank check and a fresh slate to do whatever he wants with unfettered creative control. If Whilock hadn't sold out and gone back to ESPN -- that was pathetic, by the way -- Fox could have built a monster site and podcast industry around him and Simmons.

Why do you think Whitlock sold out?

Anyone else would do the same thing.

ESPN is the mountaintop no one else comes close especially not Fox. That's the reason Whitlock came back.
Simmons could try to do a new 30 for 30 but too bad FS1 has no viewers.
