That's a good way of putting it for this trade. The royals pretty much had to get to this point for it to work out for them IMO, assuming shields is pitching for someone else next year.

This. I still think Myers will end up being a very solid player for Tampa. Odorizzi was okay this year and is still young. I think it fit the needs of both franchises
