This does not mean Saddam had WMDs he could use.

Apparently he could use them as U.S. troops were "wounded" by them. Just because you don't have a delivery system for them doesn't mean you can't use them on the Kurds.

There were old degraded stockpiles. There were no WMD of the type and quality sold to the public in the lead up.

From the article:
quote:

By 2006, the American military had found dozens of these blister-agent shells in Iraq, and had reports of others circulating on black markets, several techs said. Tests determined that many still contained mustard agent, some at a purity level of 84 percent, officials said.
Had these results been publicly disclosed, they would have shown that American assertions about Iraq’s chemical weapons posing no militarily significant threat were not true, and that these dangerous chemical weapons had Western roots.

I would be willing to bet that is why the info was covered up.

Also Saddam was actively keeping out US and UN inspectors which might have told us that and that alone was a breach of the cease fire and justification of military action.

To the OP: I read about half the article because I have to go to bed now, but the lack of medical care and coverup there is disturbing. There needs to be an investigation into that to see if it is true.
