I think most people besides college students and recent graduates would consider quitting their jobs to go backpacking in Europe fairly crazy.
i quit my job last summer and backpacked Vietnam -> Laos - Thailand - Bali, Indonesia - Cambodia - India (for as long as I could stand it) - Turkey - Greece - Israel - Jordan - Egypt - Morocco - Germany
do something like that man if you are going to quit your job. trust me, youll never be able to do it again. from my perspective from backpacking 5/7 continents, I'd say that Asia is the best in terms of fun, affordability, food and things to do. It's my favorite.
fwiw, i think most of Europe is waaayy too touristy and kind of sucks.

That's fricking awesome. Most people don't have the balls to do that. Traveling really is my number one goal in life. I want to see and experience as much as possible.
