1. Pitch to recruits they can get into the NFL
2. Win 9-10 games a year, play in an average bowl game. Blame the 2-3 losses on players who left early
3. Lose more juniors to the draft
4. Repeat

The NFL already requires 3 years out of high school. What's an extra year?

Underclassmen leaving early was unheard of, if not allowed by the NFL, until the USFL snatched Herschel Walker from UGA after his junior season.
Oh, and "Thanks, Donald Trump and your now defunct New Jersey Generals!"

It was only ten or so years before THAT, frosh could not even play varsity. Anyone remember the "Baby Bengals?"
1967 was Pete Maravich's freshman year.
The Ag Center would be packed to the rafters for the freshman game.
The varsity would come out for their game to practically empty stands and wonder where everyone went.

1. If you get injured while on contract in the NFL you still get some money, If you get injured in your 4th year of school you get nothing
2. Some don't like being in school. They may not seem ready here, but the extra year just focusing on football is big for some of them.
3. A lot of the players we talk about are redshirt juniors, so they have spend 4 years here. we really can't expect a good redshirt junior to stay

And then they go bankrupt because they can't read or write.

1 more year of school will make them literate?

Hearing rumours that the NFL and NCAA are in discussions about modifying the rules as thy stand currently. Or am I late to the party? Wasn't there an article recently stating that each team can only submit a maximum of 5 names for grading by NFL scouts instead of an unlimited list of underclassmen...

I would guess that a LOT of them are taking bs classes and would need more than one more year to graduate from a real program. Of course, there are those who do actually take advantage of it. I'm not sure having a college degree outweighs the need to have a posse though.....when they finally make some cash. It is sad the number of athletes who are broke right after they are out of the pros.

Maybe they don't believe in modern day slave labor and want to go get paid for their talents.

4 year players
Michael Ford
Ego Ferguson
Bennie Logan
Sam Montgomery
Kevin Minter
Not all of them are going to stay forever, but think about the 3 and dones who were first or second round
Mingo
Reid
Brockers
Claiborne
Beckham
Landry
Hill (he was actually 2 and done)
That was 12 of the 18 people. Add in Mathieu because, well, he was kicked out and he didn't know if he would even be able to come back the next year. So 13 of the 18 early intrants were either first round, second round, or here for four years. You can't blame these guys for leaving. You just hope that some would desire to return.

Schools should be required to share revenue with the players after their 2nd year.
