agree to disagree. Ok. St. also beat I believe 6 or 7 top 25 teams, and the kicker is that they won their conference. The reason Alabama went is because of the voters in the formula. The computers had Ok. St. ahead. Hey, I agree Bama was better....but at some point, you had your chance, and you have to earn your way in. I strongly believe that the way the system was set up, that you should have had to win your own conference.

Yes, the penalty was in the first half. Hill got down to the 13 but the penalty pushed the ball back to the 28. That drive ended with a failed fake FG. Unless Copeland had another penalty that is not showing up in the play by play.

Ok. State destroyed Oklahoma in their last game that year. What are you talking about?

That was a bad loss because we should have been able to close the door, but still nowhere near 1/9. To me, nothing's as bad as when we mail it in. Plus with the NC on the line.

I truly realized how powerful and twisted sports media was with the way they got Bama into that game.

Nothing was worse than 1/9. After the season LSU had, and yes it sucked we were required to beat a great Bama team twice, but that performance is what made it awful. Hell, if the 1/9 game was like the 11/3 game I think we would be ok. Just a competitive performance would have been great.

The 11/3 game was supposed to be our revenge game. LSU played their asses off, but once again, the 2 minute defense let them down. Alabama scored a TD inside of 2 minutes of each half, which was a problem the LSU defense had all season.

I do agree that the LSU defense hasn't been the same since the 11/3 game.

Sorry, I thought "Game of the century" was 11-3-11 because that was my ex's birthday. and that the game in TS was 11-5-12. I got the dates mixed up. I remembered watching it there.. but upon further research, OP was correct. Sorry
Game of century was 11-5-11 and the last second bama victory in TS was 11-3-12
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a question. If LSU would've lost the Game of the Century.. then won out.. Would we have made a NC appearance? I don't think so, since ESPN and the BCS licks Bama's balls.

I really hate this explanation. I mean really hate it!

There is no mythical force that brings about desired or undesired results. It's coaching.

And this right here is why I don't give two shits to what the media has to say about the college football playoff. It has NOTHING to do with better determining a champ and EVERYTHING to do with TV revenue.

WE frickING HAD A PLAYOFF FOR ALL INTENTS AND PURPOSES IN 2011!! The media was unhappy that BAMA had lost in what amounted to their semi-final game, so instead of going with the on the field result they went with to the eyeball test because they just KNEW BAMA was better than OK St. The very fricking thing they use as the reason we needed a playoff...individuals pointing at teams and declaring them better and not allowing teams to play each other to actually find out...is precisely what they did in 2011.

Seriously...frick that whole ending to that season.

You're (sadly) 100% right. If LSU lost the "Game of the Century", then won out. Didn't even make it to the SEC Championship game.. We wouldn't have made it into the NC. It's bs.. and it's just how the nation runs now, off of media. It's what the media wants..

Negative. We were lucky as hell to win at Tuscaloosa. 5 missed FG's? There was no doubt in my mind we were going to lose on 1/9, which is what made having to play them again so damn aggravating.

I've been saying this since it happened, I had a bad feeling going into the 1/9/12 game because of the way that rematches in college football always favor the team that lost the first game.

But the '12 Bama game is the one that hurts the most... Because after Landry scored to take the lead, for about 45 mins in real time the whole world was right (I was there and you couldn't hear the person next to you... And then we got Chavis'd, they were who we thought they were and we let them off the hook. Miles had a better team that night and didn't know it...

Yep that one will hurt for a long time...

I think that loss was more heartbreaking than the NC game. We should have won that game. We had our pride back after being killed in the NC game and everyone thought we had the game won until Bama pulled off a drive and beat us.

I personally don't think we would have been able to beat UGA in the SEC Championship game though

Can't say the 11.3.12 was worse than 1.9.12, because obviously one was for the title to be handed out right after the game, and one would have required us still beating UGA as it turned out.

1.9.12 won't fade until we win another title, and even then it won't die. It will likely never die.

You get Bama with your old coach, in NOLA, for the title with the possibly the greatest LSU team ever. And don't win.

Isnt that the game where Saban basically said during the post conference about the final drive, "We knew what they were going to do, and exploited it?"

Yeah he did. It's no coincidence Bama scored 14 of their 21 points inside of 2 minutes of each half.

The most frustrating part is that this was a problem against South Carolina and Texas A&M in previous weeks. Obviously, we failed to address it.
