I agree, but better late than never. She's definitely the antithesis of ISIS - a shining example of Muslim enlightenment, tolerance and feminism.

After obama won one the associated farce rendered them meaningless.

I still have no idea why he won it.

I have an idea, but it wasn't based on merit, but neither was Al Gore's award, which even at face value had nothing to do with peace. Of course some people will point to Yasir Arafat, Menachem Begin and Nelson Mandela as unworthy, but at least those guys made actual peace deals.

from the Nobel Peace Prize Committee's website: LINK
quote:
The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. The Committee has attached special importance to Obama's vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons. ( Russia's nuclear arsonal now larger than the U.S., 10/3/14)
Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. (Obama did not seek UN approval to bomb Libya or Syria.)
Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts. The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations. (There are more nuclear weapons in the world today than when Obama took office.)

The UN did approve the bombing of Libya and Obama never bombed Syria.

Check out UN Resolution 1973 which authorized "a no-fly zone and air strikes against Muammar Gaddafi".

He's bombing Syria now with the consent of the Syrian government but he didn't bomb Syria last year when he was contemplating doing it. Similarly, we are also bombing Iraq with the consent of its government. You don't need UN authorization to take military action in a nation if its internationally-recognized government consents to it.

— The US notified Syria that it was going to strike ISIS. The Syrian government did not grant formal permission for the strikes in its territory,

The Obama administration said that they have the right to strike forces whomever they declare to be the enemy in Syria without the consent of the Syrian government and, in fact, they made it clear they will not work with the Syrian government.
