No, because I'm a way worse fan than I was before Miles came here and sucked the joy out of it. I realize that's not necessarily his fault as much as it is mine, but there's no denying that this team has not been very fun to watch for the most part during his tenure.

you maybe just ratchet things down for a month. bite your tongue if you can. give this team a chance to get better, to improve, to fight, before you pass judgement.

What does "getting better" mean for this team? They fight to a 4-4 conference record? That would put Miles's 10 year SEC winning percentage at 70%, the same as Saban's 5 year SEC winning percentage despite Saban taking over for Dinardo after a winless SEC season.

In itself, that wouldn't be so bad (though I don't think it is up to the expectations we had for this program in 2004), but most of us are just tired of watching Les's brand of football. If he was constantly at the top of the conference, one could be expected to live with that, but why should we want to live with it when he's not competing for championships? When it's always "wait until next year."

I'm with SFP. I don't want LSU to lose games, but I also don't want to watch them fluke their way to wins they don't deserve that will enable Choctaw (as representative of a certain mindset) to crow about a W-L record that doesn't tell the whole story.

Nice post. Some disagreements with you, which I’ll list below, but at least it is rational and invites a discussion.

That said, steel sharpens steel. Legitimate criticism of a coach – never players – is not only appropriate, but healthy. It’s part of the checks and balance system (much like the media supposedly is a check to the govt.). The heat from the fan base ultimately trickles to the admin, who then applies the heat to the coach. While I’m sure the admin reaches the same point independent of the fan base, to say that a fan base (or Rantard) does not influence the program is, well, wrong.

Personally, I subscribe to the school of frank, direct discussion. If someone is not living up to expectations, then you address it head-on, you don’t bite your lip or sweep it under the rug. Silence serves no purpose and only promotes festering problems. It’s actually very Pavlovian. You reward good behavior and punish bad.

Steel sharpens steel.
