It was even more frustrating because the offensive line actually looked pretty darn good. Much better than they did against MSU and even Wisconsin imo. Fournette and Williams are really coming along nicely, and Dupre showed his explosive ability with a great adjustment on the long catch.
For all the talk about our predictable play calling and formations, first downs were EXTREMELY effective, and the stat they showed about midway through the 2nd quarter proved it perfectly. At that point, we had 108 total yards, 107 of which came on first down.
107 of 108 yards on first down. Unreal.
LSU was consistently in 2nd and short, but mistake after mistake kept pushing us back, and Harris was a big part of that. The fumbled snap, miscommunication, not knowing the play, rolling out when there was no pressure, and just plain missing wide open receivers with awful throws.
Completely agree with everything here. Anyone bashing the first down running has no idea what they are talking about. Unfortunately, we were unable to capitalize on those runs. A lot of the mistakes fall on Harris, but that's what we get for starting a true freshmen on the road against a Top 5 team.
I still like Harris and think he's the future, but there's going to be growing pains. I just want to see improvement in him over the course of the season.

I honestly think you will see improvement in the whole team over the season. We are so young, we are bound to show better maturity going forward. And believe it or not, it will make the coaches look better. Lack of execution on the field has been out biggest problem.
