The only thing that confuses me is smashmouth football and zone running games do not mix.

In most zone blocking schemes, linemen are coached to give ground to gain leverage. RBs take the handoff and look for the running lane to open up.

Smashmouth running is firing off the line, moving the LOS and the back hits the designated hole at full speed.

It seems like LSU is trying to combine the two schemes and you are seeing the results. OL is not getting a push and backs are hitting the holes too quick to allow any lanes or cutbacks to open.

miles and cam both know the ol, so I think its more than the rant understands. it would help if we had better play design and scheme. its not all on the ol or grimes. we just line up and expect to be better than the other guys. we don't care if they know what the play is. ol would also be helped if harris plays and rolls out more and uses athleticism. we need to get the dl to think and hesitate rather than just charge forward and run into ball carrier.
