He's only directed one other movie according to IMDb. Army of One, in 1993. So I think it's fair to say that his directorial skills are unknown.

And, regarding him being "a Hollywood legend and one of the most accomplished filmmakers working today": 1. I've never heard of him. 2. No legend would ever make something as garbage as this movie.
