Todd Akin made his "legitimate rape" comment on August 19, 2012. He led in every single poll, but one which was tied, from January 2012 - August 20, 2012. After that date he trailed in every poll but one. LINK Imagine if something similar happened within 35 days of an election.
All I'm asking for is one example of this happening. Shouldn't be hard. I don't want to have to use my imagination. Usually when I do it just ends up with me whacking off.

So, you don't have an example.
In the 26 October 1980 Gallup poll, Jimmy Carter held a wide lead over Reagan. It was well outside MOE. Carter was at 47%. Ronald Reagan was at 39%. Following their 29 Oct Presidential debate, Reagan overcame the largest deficit since Gallup polling began in 1936 to win in a landslide.
