All Libertarians should support this.

The Justice Department is expected to issue a broad new policy in the coming two to three weeks banning religious and other forms of profiling by federal law enforcement officers, department sources said Friday..
The long-awaited policy will not include an exemption for national security investigations, sources said. National security officials and others in the administration concerned about terrorism lobbied hard for such an exemption, according to congressional sources.
The new policy will cover ethnicity and sexual orientation as well as religion. Advocates of the new policy said they were surprised because the debate over the national security exemption had blocked movement for months.
Atty. Gen. Eric H. Holder Jr., who said Thursday he was stepping down, had been on the verge of announcing the new policy several months ago, but it was put on hold by the White House days before the intended announcement, according to a congressional aide who was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter. The White House insisted the policy be reviewed for its national security implications by the Department of Homeland Security, the aide said.
The new policy, though still being finalized, is expected to prohibit federal agents from conducting undercover surveillance of a mosque, for example, without some information that criminal activity is underway. Under the current rules, approved in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, law enforcement agencies were given broad latitude to monitor specific religious groups.

I'm fine with it. Not sure how many terrorists in America are going to be planning in a mosque anyway but I guess dumber things have happened.
I actually kind of find it disturbing a policy has to be put in place to discourage this practice of spying on people for no reason.

You honestly don't think that Muslim extremists don't use the cover of mosques to carry out acts of terrorism?
Wow......
Wow......

Well said. All intelligent, fair-minded and freedom-loving people should agree with what you've said, but of course this doesn't fit KCT's description.

This policy will make us all safer.

I'll bet Rand Paul supports Holder on this.

this is the most common mistake in the minds of the ignorant. I'm sure you are referring to trackfan's relentless critique of Israel which is in no way anti-semitic. Even wanting to destroy Israel has no basis in antisemitism.
why? why? enter visions of Nazi stormtroopers! No, we must separate European hatred of Jews from a legitimate ethnic war in the middle east. It's a mistake to project 1933-1945 onto the Arab-Jew struggle. Any foreign ethnicity would have been met with the same struggle, the same wars. Being Jewish has literally nothing to do, per se, with the conflict.
Not even Hamas is anti-semitic. If someone believes so, they only have a superficial understanding of the issue.

I can agree with this based upon the above paragraph. A mosque is just an example, what is the next religion or group that gets targeted? Yes, I know Muslims = bad (today); but what if your group/religion is targeted next week for no particular reason? I think the government should have to have a reason to put you under surveillance other than you attend a certain church.

I hope he and his family suffer great harm because his protective detail did not profile the Islamic terrorists that attacked him.

This will be overturned by a competent administration.

The bottom line is, the bad guys are in charge of America right now. Obama and Holder are the sorriest tandem to ever hold their respective positions.

We're fans of common sense.
If Terrorism becomes a common issue here, we're done as a country.
