That's a good method, and it's quick and easy when you want height-maximized, side-by-side windows, each half the width of the screen, but it doesn't give me the window sizes I need. In particular, it would make the Firefox window too narrow for a lot of web sites that don't adjust their layout to fit the window size, bringing out the horizontal scrollbar.
