I don't know the exact reasoning behind it, maybe the pivot or cutback, but the block on Manning wasn't an illegal block in the back. WWL870 had people on explaining why days after the game.

Yeah. I'm sure it has something to do with where the ball carrier is during the block.

Think it's bc Smith has a right to his space on the field and Manning slowed/stopped.
