People are so stupid and running straight to the baseless "backups" argument. You know damn well Mullen didn't have his backups in when that fumbled snap got us the ball at the 30, and he definitely didn't have only them in on that final drive.

That was just Harris throwing darts to guys that were open all game. The only thing you can say was that he didn't face the heavy pass rush like Jennings did all game. I want to see how he handles Auburn because I consider that about on par with MSU's front seven.

I think Harris is better, but I'm still not confident that he will fix the offense. He has yet to see a teams best defense.

He was not getting the same pressure Jennings had to manage early in the game. Don't get me wrong, he still did great.

Harris has better leadership skills and instincts suited for this team at this time. It may be a little too risky to start him. Bottom line is he is a true freshman and still has to mature. Honestly I feel this way about the whole team. Next year will be our year! This is a rebuilding year.

It's too early to give up and I know our tigers will continue to fight. They'll grow and hell they are stronger because of this game. The coaches do need to change our schemes to better match this young lean speedy team. Not saying we turn into an Oregon, but more gun then run would be appreciated.

Prevent defenses are designed to take away the deep ball and give up short to intermediate yardage. The points were in junk time but honestly how jennings was playing do you believe he would have made those throws or scored 2 touchdowns in 2 minutes. We have seen jennings struggle to complete passes against iowa...wisconsin...ulm....and now msu. He is not a helluva scrambler so that dynamic is minimized as well.

If Harris ever gets the chance to start he won't miss another snap. AJ will be a clip board holder the rest of his career.

Jennings was under a lot more pressure, during the game. I'm not saying Harris couldn't have performed better, but we just don't know. Going forward, it's up to the coaches, to have a true Qb competition, even if that means LSU scores 70+ points this weekend. frick lining up, and running the ball 52 times, they need to find out what they have at Qb, if not, LSU is in for a long season.

Going into a Prevent Defense prevents you from winning.

Lol, back in the day when the Saints rarely had a lead late in the game, they always went into prevent defense, and sure enough, it prevented the Saints from winning almost every time.

Most objective people watching the MSU game (also factoring in his performance in the bowl game and the Wisconsin game) will say Harris needs to play more....period. Jennings is not getting it done. Maybe he doesn' start, but he needs to be playing at least as much as Jennings. Of course, the Oline is not helping things, but Jennings can't complete passes with consistency and it's killing us. Those throws Harris made were not an anomaly. He is a better passer. Isn't it obvious that defenses don't respect our passing game because they know Jennings will throw it in the dirt or behind receivers at least 3-4 times a game even if they are wide open. He locks in on his primary receiver. He doesn't make decisions fast enough.

His supposed strengths (running, read option, and long ball) are not much better than what Harris does. In addition, Harris is a much better passer. If Harris can't remember all the plays, then work on "enough" plays for an effective game plan with him in the game. I'd bet harris can hit Fournette on that screen pass, which should be run at least 3 times a game.

P.S. - Enough Magee. He should be 4th on the depth chart right now.

Umm...isn't a prevent defense supposed to prevent exactly the type of plays that he was making?

How much football have you actually watched? It is very easy to move the football down field agains a prevent defense. there is no pash rush so the QB has time. The middle of the field is wide open so big gains are easy to come by.

I don't understand this argument.

Prevent defenses are there to prevent the other team from scoring....i.e., keep the plays underneath. They actually, in their nature, allow for completions by playing everyone deep so as to disallow a receiver from scoring. Prevent defenses are fail-safe mechanisms. They are not intended to disrupt the line-of-scrimmage or the QB, or even the WR routes, for the most part.
