Americans don't want troops back in Iraq. By a huge margin. In theory, at least, we are a democracy.

But I guess this story doesn't play if it's "Rift widens between 75% of Americans, some retired military generals."

This. And like I said, the military has most certainly underachieved in the ME since we arrived. This carte blanche of taking some retired man's opinion as gospel is ridiculous.

For all we know these guys are setting up a run for office - it's not like they've spent a day of their lives working in the private sector.
