Sims hasn't proven he can carry them.

He hasn't. But I really have been pretty impressed with him. He's fast. That's an element of an Alabama QB we aren't used to seeing. Of course, they haven't really played any great defenses (WVU was decent), but still.

I was really high on Auburn until tonight. I thought they were the best team in the country. I also thought they would lose 2 games, but that's just because their schedule was so hard.

But I saw a lot of bad things tonight. We will have to see how they rebound against LSU.

It is really wide open and there are no easy games in the West. Auburn could lose at State. LSU could lose at Arkansas. Actually, I'd say one of those two will happen at this point.

Auburn's schedule is too hard for them to win the West, IMO. I've said all along that if LSU wins at Auburn, they'll win the West. If not, I'd favor Alabama. Either way, I think the West winner ends up with 2 losses in conference.

Auburn does have the tie-breaker advantage, though, if it comes to that.

I should say to be fair, he hasn't had to. He's capably done what they've asked him to. Bama should be able to rely on defense and the running game for the most part but its likely they'll need the QB to carry them against an SEC defense at some point. Can he do that? That's what I'm interested to see against Florida this weekend.

LSU has similar question marks. I want to say the defense is stout and then some but I'll hold off until we see them against a complete offense on Saturday. My concern is with Jennings. I'm quite nervous about him facing SEC defense. I consider it a shame that the staff didn't take the opportunity to work on more short passing against SHSU and ULM. We'll only be able to hide the QB position for so long.

Overall I'd say this is the most balanced the SEC has been in a few years. Although the West is carrying the Easts weight.
