Owen wanted out but Vince refused to let him out of his contract.

Bulldog's contract was about up so they let him go, but having this possibility in mind is why they had HBK beat Bulldog for the Euro title at a UK-only PPV a while before this.

I wouldn't be surprised if people thought that Lawler quitting in 2001 over the stuff with his then-wife Miss Kitty was a work, even though it was a shoot.
